A tribute to John Hire, Sanipac's former general manager.

John Hire, 1950-2006

We were deeply saddened when John Hire, Sanipac's general manager, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on May 31, 2006. John was a close friend and colleague to those of us who worked with him.

John guided Sanipac for nearly 25 years, establishing several new programs that increased customer satisfaction and streamlined the operation. John served on the board and executive committee of the Oregon Refuse and Recycling Association and chaired the Association's Governmental Affairs Committee.

John had a green thumb and spent countless hours in his English garden. Most of all, John was a family man. He adored his wife, Lana; his boys Matt, Sean and Ryan; daughters-in-law Erin, Laurie and Casey; and grandson Owen.

At Sanipac, John's priorities included excellent customer service. We will continue that tradition in his memory.
